Born Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone, 16 August 1958 in Bay City, in the United States, she has for a father, a worker of Italian descent and a canadian mother of French origin. In the modest suburb of Detroit in which she grew up, surrounded by her six brothers and under the yoke of a mother-in-law hard and uncompromising, which takes the place of her mother (died of cancer when Madonna was only five years old), the little girl begins to dream of glory and fame. Recorded at the piano and she quickly abandoned to devote himself to his true passion, dance (she takes ballet classes and pom pom girl), and finally gives up his studies at the age of 17 to become a dancer. Packed, the latter offers the CEO of Sire Records, who on his side does not take long to sign the young Madonna. It is as well that sees the day his first album, self-titled, released in July 1983. With eight songs produced by Reggie Lucas, the album, sold more than ten million copies around the world, is a huge success. A year later, Madonna comes out Like A Virgin and confirms her talent: the album sold 21 million copies worldwide and remains 152 weeks in the Top 100 british. Madonna achieved her childhood dream: she is now a world star.
